It’s nice to meet you. Thanks for stopping by my corner of the Internet. Welcome to the capsule lifestyle.
Curious to know what that means? This blog is devoted to simplifying our lifestyles into small, manageable chunks. In an age where we are constantly being asked to stretch ourselves thinner, do more, buy more and be more, we can all use a bit of simplicity from time to time. I’m here to share with you how I go about doing this in my own life.
The most obvious place you might have heard of applying the capsule concept is to your wardrobe. I became intrigued with the idea of capsule wardrobes about a year ago, after I made a fourth (!) international move in five (!!) years. I thought that I had already thrown out everything I owned in preparation to move. Everything we owned fit into 10 moving boxes.
That was too much for me.
Since then, I’ve been on a mission to pare down my belongings and consequently, my life. While I got rid of even more stuff, I’ve also had to rebuild.
Throughout this process, I began to realize that I was applying a capsule concept to many areas of my life: not only what I wear, but also what I cook, how I eat and what I buy for my home and body. It’s been an enlightening experience: I’ve learned a lot about what I need and don’t need. Since I figured I’m not the only one who could benefit from some simplification, I wanted to share my discoveries. I hope what I’ve figured out helps you, too. Enjoy.
